Novel Mage Feature
Chat
Converse with an assistant grounded in your novel and codex.
Novel Mage's Chat feature gives you a conversational AI assistant that knows your entire novel. Unlike pasting context into ChatGPT and hoping it fits in the context window, Novel Mage's Chat is automatically grounded in your manuscript content, chapter summaries, and codex entries so the assistant understands your story before you ask your first question.
This changes what you can ask. Not just 'write me the next scene' but 'does chapter 7 contradict what I established about Elena's backstory in chapter 3?' or 'I'm stuck on the transition from Act 2 to Act 3 what are three options based on where the plot currently stands?' The AI can reference specific characters, locations, and events from your codex and earlier chapters to give answers grounded in your actual story not generic writing advice.
Chat is also useful for brainstorming without committing. You can explore where a storyline might go, ask the AI to steelman a plot decision you're uncertain about, or use it to test whether a twist will feel earned to a reader based on the foreshadowing you've laid. Everything stays in the Novel Mage environment no copying and pasting chapters into external tools, no privacy exposure of your manuscript.

Open the Chat panel from any chapter or the main workspace. Novel Mage automatically includes relevant context from your manuscript and codex entries based on what you ask. You can manually pin specific chapters or codex items if you want to focus the AI on a particular part of the story. Your chat history is saved per session so you can continue a conversation or review past brainstorming discussions.
